In this week’s double portion, Mattot-Masei, the Torah recounts the forty-two journeys of the Jewish people in the wilderness. It may seem repetitive at first — do we really need a travel itinerary?

However, the Baal Shem Tov teaches that these journeys reflect the spiritual path of each soul throughout life. Every stop, even the difficult ones, has a purpose. Even when people stumbled, the detours held meaning.

It’s a reminder that:

  • You are where you’re meant to be.

  • The pause has a purpose.

  • The detours are not delays — they’re part of your mission.

Whether you're moving forward in life or feeling stuck, don't just ask, 'Why am I here?'  Instead, ask, 'What purpose can I serve in this moment and place?'

Even the wilderness had a message. What will your surroundings say when you move on?

Spiritual Takeaway:
You don’t have to be in a “holy place” to live a holy life. It’s not about the GPS coordinates, it’s about what you do there.
